Challenge

Constitutional freedoms face unprecedented challenges across various levels of government today. Attorneys General (AGs) represent a critical defense for democracy and law and order at the state level. In recent election cycles, the importance of AGs in safeguarding democratic principles has become increasingly evident. However, as down-ballot candidates, garnering online support and establishing robust digital programs poses a significant challenge.

Solution

Recognizing the importance of AGs and the unique challenges they face in down-ballot races, BCom has proudly partnered with multiple AG candidates, aiding them in scaling their campaigns and achieving success in the digital era. Through strategic digital advertising, record-breaking fundraising initiatives and leveraging a powerful digital infrastructure, BCom supports both seasoned AGs and emerging candidates in their mission to uphold constitutional protections.

Millions of Online Impressions in Delaware

In collaboration with Kathy Jennings, the Attorney General of Delaware and co-chair of the Democratic Attorneys General Association (DAGA), BCom developed and implemented a brand new digital fundraising program. This programming not only raised $50,000 for Kathy but also significantly contributed to AG races across the nation. By strategically investing in list growth and utilizing her extensive network, BCom expanded Kathy’s email list by 125,000 new contacts.

Additionally, we ran an extensive 7-track persuasion campaign that included Meta, Google search and YouTube ads. These generated nearly 2 million impressions and reached our target voters nearly 7.5 times each, having a major impact in re-electing Kathy to a second term as Attorney General.

Record-breaking Outreach in Virginia

In the high-stakes 2021 Attorney General race in Virginia, BCom collaborated with Mark Herring to facilitate a comprehensive digital strategy, leading to a resounding 13-point primary victory. During the campaign, Mark's active contacts soared from 50,000 to over 200,000, and he raised an impressive $375,000 from digital channels alone. BCom’s tailored ad strategy achieved over 14 million ad impressions and added over 133,000 contacts. The paid acquisition strategy achieved a remarkable 153% ROI.

Ground-Up Email Strategy in Iowa

The strategy for building an email program looks different for every candidate. For Attorneys General, it’s about building programs that are not only true to the candidate, but that have the power to raise money despite it being a down-ballot race. In Iowa, we did that in partnership with Tom Miller, a long-standing Attorney General with a remarkable track record and a reputation for fortifying successful Democratic Presidential campaigns in the first-in-the-nation primary state.

We leveraged Tom's decades-long connections and successes to build an email audience and strategy modeling the energy of Obama ‘08 and ‘12. What resulted was a 400%+ ROI positive program, demonstrating the power of legacy — and proving that elected officials who may not be perceived as digitally-savvy can connect with broad audience using innovative online strategy.

Building Towards the Future

BCom's dedication to supporting Democratic Attorneys General nationally through robust digital strategies has yielded significant results, but we're not stopping here. We're committed to continuing to support the most effective champions of Democracy by leveraging digital initiatives to reach voters, fostering fundraising efforts and ultimately securing victories for AGs.
