Expanding Grassroots Fundraising in a Competitive District
After unseating a four-term Republican incumbent in 2018, Congressman Josh Harder needed to scale his small-dollar fundraising, grow his grassroots base, and strengthen his brand to defend one of the most competitive districts in the country.
Over three election cycles (2019-2024), we helped Harder raise over $3 million, making him one of the top frontliner fundraisers nationwide. Through strategic digital engagement, we added 827,100 new contacts to his email list, generating nearly 20,000 donations and raising $700,000 from grassroots supporters. We also expanded his SMS program, raising nearly $282,000 through texting.

Refining Brand & Strengthening Voter Engagement
Beyond fundraising, Harder needed to solidify his identity as a husband, father, and leader opposing MAGA extremism. Through email, ads, and SMS, we reinforced this message, helping him build a stronger connection with voters. To improve outreach, we designed a new campaign website featuring family imagery, clear priorities, and an optimized user experience. We also developed a Spanish-language version to engage the district’s large Latino voting population.

Our work earned a 2022 Reed Award for Most Innovative Use of Email, with Harder’s program also named a finalist for Best Email Acquisition Program. But more than the numbers and accolades, this work was about helping a strong, values-driven leader stay in the fight for his district.
